Amoenus is a non-profit art organisation that facilitates, educates, curates, and promotes immersive art centred around 3D sound.

We support the development of sound-driven artforms that blur the boundaries between artists and audiences.

Amoenus wishes to introduce a change in the way in which art is consumed today: departing from the traditional one-sided mode of artistic consumption, it welcomes its audience in the middle of creative expression.

We work with charity and non-profit organisations to set up and manage our pop-up performance spaces, prioritising creative hubs and recycled buildings & infrastructures.

The organisation serves as a nexus between funding bodies and independent makers & creatives, distributing the totality of its income to those involved in the creative process.

Bespoke 3D Sound System

AMOENUS has put together a team of engineers and manufacturers to built its very own 3D sound system. The speakers have been built to the highest standard of audio fidelity to bring studio sound quality into public performance spaces.

Using open source Ambisonics technology our sound system becomes a 3D sound field - "sound objects" can be positioned in any location and move freely across space.

This can be used to craft highly somatic sound-driven artistic experiences

Our sound system was made possible by:

Audio Spatialisation

Our sound system includes a variety of different spatial audio tools, allowing artists to control sound position in different ways.

︎AUDITIF: Any sound sources can be positioned, "sculpted", in the space and their trajectory controlled through an innovative approach that resembles commonly used tools for electronic music composition. The sonic sculpture can be performed in real-time through Auditif touch-based controller app.

︎ENVELOP 4 LIVE: a suite of Ambisonics devices, fully integrated in the popular audio workstation Ableton Live. This option is best suited for music composition.

︎Using motion sensor technologies such as distance sensors or smart wearable technology such as FLOWFAL.

︎Sound source position can be controlled via OSC, opening 3D sound spatialisation up to any type of changing data.

︎3D sound performances/compositions can be recorded for playback on any other speaker system, in stereo or binaural format, providing spatial sound impression in headhones.
