PELL ENSEMBLE ︎ 800 LIFETIMESCONTEMPORARY DANCE - SOUND & MOVEMENT INTERACTION
PELL ENSEMBLE will research the use of a wearable motion sensor technology in the context of 3D sound. This allows to ‘choreograph with sound’, sound becoming a second dancer in the space. This research is tied to the work-in-progress digital dance piece “800 LIFETIMES”.
Using dance and 360° sound this new digital performance work looks at the acceleration of change from the past to the present, NOW. It reflects our 800 lifetime relationship with the environment, each other and the communities we create. Attempting to give voice and capture the feeling of standing on unsteady, ever shifting ground together. It will be a co-created work culminating in a performance that features the voice, words, movement and often people from different generations of each community that we are resident in.
Pell Ensemble is a group of dancers, digital, visual and sound artists led by choreographer Rebecca Evans. Together they create digital experiences for performance and education settings that explore how human stories and technology are meeting and swiftly evolving. Rebecca's work has increasingly moved out of typical theatre settings to challenge performance norms and place the audience at the heart.
