BASS, HAPTICS & HEARING DISABILITIES
SUBPAC, AMOENUS and Troi Lee (Deaf Rave) will form a special collaboration to research haptic technologies and bass frequencies in the context of hearing disabilities. The goal of the research is to learn more about how deaf people can enjoy and make music.
Six deaf participants will be invited to play with sound-making devices designed specifically to be enjoyed in the form of physical vibration through SUBPAC wearable haptic technologies and AMOENUS subwoofers. The participants will be given the stage of the closing showcase to lead an improvised performance for an audience.
SUBPAC wearable solutions turn sound into vibrations that are physically felt in the body. The company actively works at grassroots level with producers & sound designers around the world to create, share, and promote a deeper connection to music & sound. The paralle project “Health & Bass” is a network that highlights, researches & explores how the physical experience of sound/music can optimize our emotional, physical and mental well-being.
Troi Lee aka DJ Chinaman is the founder of Deaf Rave, a Deaf led music organisation. They have been established since 2003, catering to Deaf communities in social events. Deaf Rave organised dance music events specifically for deaf people - in these events, music is played with an increased amount of bass fequencies for it to be enjoyed physically.
